Can you use Storyline in offline mode? How?

Oct 26, 2020

I am new to this program and working with content that has been built prior to me working here. We need to be able to download training content videos so they may be projected on a screen through a computer for a training without all of the delay that occurs with limited or no internet service. There is not a need for the training to record data while playing (ie. quiz results).  Can you do this?  How do you change or update a previously published trainings settings without updating content?

Is there a place to see all of the content created for your company no matter what format was used (Rise or Storyline etc)?

Things seem so hidden under layers of layers and no direct answers or ease of access for a person learning the program.

Hi, Casey,

Publishing a course creates a folder containing multiple files, including some within sub-folders. You can launch a published course by double-clicking the story.html file. That works whether you published the course for the web for for an LMS.

  1. If someone has the published-course files on their laptop, they can play/present the course without being connected to the internet.
  2. A published course can be uploaded to a company website and be run from there.
  3. A published course can be put into an LMS for tracking, as long as it's published with the proper LMS options.
  • Note that it's best to publish for the web for options 1 & 2.

To publish, you do need the source file. If you don't have the source file, but you do have the course running in your LMS, check with your LMS folks to see if they can download the SCORM package (i.e., the zipped course files) for you. Then the presenter could unzip the files on their laptop to present.

BTW, there is quite a bit of documentation on Articulate 360 that  provides a lot of helpful instructions. You can find the tutorials and user guides here:

Good luck!
