Can you view project variables at runtime?

Jun 27, 2013

Hello all,

Does anyone know if you can watch the status of project variables at runtime?

I need to do this for debugging purposes.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Stimpson (love the avatar!),

What type of variable are you wanting to view? Are you just wanting to display them in a slide, or elsewhere?

If you want to insert them into a slide, so you can see when variables change, all you need to do is provide the variable text in a text box on your slide. For example, if you have a True/False variable called "Example", you would just create a new text box on the slide and enter %Example% - that variable text will display the initial value and will update when the variable changes.

Let me know if this isn't what you're wanting to do, or if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Hi there Stimpson,

No problem! Happy that helped :)

For your other question, I'm afraid I'm not aware of any plans to create a report or log for variables. As far as I know, the only way to see all of the variables for a project is to actually launch the variable list within the project.

If there's another way to do this, I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it. If one of our community experts or coding experts sees this and has any tips, that would be awesome :)

Also, if this is something you'd like to see in a future release, you're always welcome to share your suggestions with our development team.

Thanks and have a great day!

Christine
