Cannot import an Engage '13 interaction into Storyline? WTF?

May 21, 2014

I really wish I would have been told about this limitation prior to buying licenses for my team.  When will this be fixed?

Hi John,

I don't have a time frame to offer in regards to the next release that would have the functionality to import Engage '13 into Storyline, but in the meantime a lot of users are using the method of publishing the Engage interaction as a standalone file and then placing it into Storyline as a web object. To do so, you'll want to:

1. Have all of your Engage output in one folder.

2. Rename your Interaction.html (Studio 13) file to "Index.html"

3. In Storyline, click insert web object and click on the folder icon.

4. Direct Storyline to the Engage folder (just select the folder, no need to navigate inside).

5. Click Ok.

Now, when you publish, all of the Engage files will get pulled into your presentation.

Ashley,

Thanks for the reply.  I posted the question twice b/c I was not sure that the first iteration made it to the forum.

I followed you directions and I think I am good to go now.  I just need to make sure to include the Engage folder and its contents with the Storyline out put folder, right?  Should the Engage folder be IN the Storyline folder or just located in the same directory?

Thanks,

Hack

Hi Hack,

No worries on posting twice - it happens occasionally with a users first post as it is waiting to be moderator by staff - now that you're moderated the posts will appear immediately.

Storyline will actually pull the contents into your published output as long as you set up that link and direct to the Engage folder.

When you go to test it, you'll need to test this within the intended publish environment to see the web object display properly instead of testing the published output locally.
