Hi Nutpaphat. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

How are you viewing the published content? Are you uploading it to a web server or LMS before you try to view it in Goggle Chrome? If not, you may be viewing the content locally. If you view it locally, you're going to run into some issues that may keep your link from working. If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:

Good morning Nutpaphat,

If you must run the content locally, you could publish for CD. To test the content, make sure you launch the .EXE file that's created after publishing. This should illuminate any restrictions with the browser.

Offline

If you need to distribute your Storyline content for offline viewing, publish for CD.

After publishing, do any of the following to share it with others. (Note: Double-click the Launch_Story.exefile in the published output to view the course.)

  • Burn the published output to a CD.
  • Burn the published output to a DVD.
  • Copy the published output to a USB drive.
  • Zip the published output, and copy it to a network drive. (Users must extract the zip file before viewing.)
  • Zip the published output, and email it directly to users. (Users must extract the zip file before viewing.)

Hi Nutpaphat,

I'm sorry, I'm having a difficult time understanding what you're asking. I'm not sure, but I think you're asking about adding a link into an already published file, is that right? If so, that's not possible. Are you not able to add the link to the course before publishing?

If I'm not understanding correctly, can you try to rephrase the question, or provide a little more detail?

Thank you!

Christine

I think you might make a mistake in 2 issues of different topic I posted

This issue I  got the problem of when I create the URL link in the slide to link the website, then I publish it , it can open the link when I use internet explorer browser but It cannot open when I used google chrome browser. And I just cannot publish as a CD that you suggested me to do because my company's technical problem. So, I just ask you how to open URL link by using google chrome browser? Do you have any setting in google chrome to ignore security restriction?

Sorry that my question may be not clear

Christine Hendrickson

Hi Nutpaphat,

You're right - I apologize. I did think the two were related. Sorry about that!

You can try the settings in Google Chrome, but I don't think you'll be able to bypass them if viewed locally, like you want. Are you required to use Chrome? If not you could simply express to learners or clients that the content is best viewed in Internet Explorer. Another option would be to try a different version of Chrome. But, if you do that, you'll have to specify that version when you distribute the course - which, in all honesty, would be more of a hassle than recommending Internet Explorer as most Windows machines have this installed by default.

That being said, if you'd like to share the project's .STORY file with me here, I can do a little testing in Chrome, as it's my primary browser. I may not be able to find anything that will change this, but I'd be happy to try, if you'd like.

Thanks!

HI Christine

I already attach file name "test file output" for you to have a look on this. You can test with explorer browser and google chrome browser and you might know what the problem when using google chrome and the button then it's not link to URL in another window but it's work when open with explorer. Could you tell me what's wrong when using google chrome?

Thanks for your effort so much

Christine Hendrickson

Good morning Nutpaphat,

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see a previous post with attachments. I may have missed it though, if so I'm sorry for that.

However, the files you attached are the output files and unfortunately, I cannot test with these. The file I'll need to see is actually a single, .story file. So, for example, if your course title is "TestForChristine", the file name I need would be "TestForChristine.story" and it will be listed as an Articulate Storyline Story file.

With that file, I'll be able to test in Google Chrome and see what's going on. Again, though, I'm not sure how much difference this will make since you need to view the content locally. I'd be happy to take a look, I just cannot promise a workaround for the restrictions, since they're built into the browsers and Flash and not the Storyline content.

Thanks again!

Good morning Nutpaphat,

Unfortunately, if it's too large, you won't be able to post it here. It may be that the zip compression posted because it was smaller, but I'm not sure. The forums were setup to handle smaller files, for examples, but not really for testing larger files.

If you'd like you're welcome to share the files in a support case, to my attention. It should be able to handle the file. Just share the case number with me after you submit it and I'll try to take a look for you.

Thanks!
