Cannot Save Files

Aug 07, 2020

I've been having some issues with saving my Storyline files.

I appears to be saving, the progress bar at the bottom reaches 100%, but then an error message pops up:

"The project file could not be saved. Access to the path 'My Articulate Projects\Storyline Templates' is denied."

Fortunately, it does appear to actually save. But if I try to save again at any point, it immediately fails with a new error message:

"The project file could not be saved. Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'StoryPackage'.

I have installed all updates, restarted my computer, and tried running Articulate as an Admin, but no luck.

Any one else run into an issue like this? I saw some other posts about this but they all seemed to be from several years ago.

Hi Jeremy

You could try running a repair of SL... and if that doesn't work

there may be a corrupt slide or object/s on a slide that are causing this.  Try creating a new project file and importing a few slides in at a time and publishing...you may be able to isolate an issue this way.

Happy to take a look if you want to share the .story file.

Hello Jeremy and welcome to E-Learning Heroes 😊

Thanks for contacting us and sharing that you're experiencing an issue saving your file.

I'm curious if the issue happens in any course you are working on or just this particular one?

  • If you cannot re-create the issue in a new course, I would advise you to import the file into a new one and proceed.
  • If it's happening in any/all files, you should conduct a repair of your software.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
