The size of the lightbox is based on the overall size of your story size, and using that same ratio to make the lightbox. Since it's set to be smaller than the standard course size, the captions will also appear smaller as they are set at the player level which is consistent throughout the whole course.
Perhaps instead of using a true lightbox, you could look at some of the options for a custom lightbox? That article is a bit older (pre Storyline 3/360) but you should be able to use the same concepts.
Hello Jan & Ashley, are there any news on this topic..? Did you find a way to make the subtitles appear bigger in the standard lightbox, Jan?
We have a lot of projects with videos embedded via lightbox slides. Now that we're translating into a lot of languages (using subtitles for the videos), we found that the sizes don't adapt at all (not even a little bit, even if you change the player settings to 200%). Custom lightboxes are not an option for us because we would have to change our standard templates/structure.
Thank you or anybody else for news or tips on this matter :)
Thanks for checking in! Nothing has changed in the functionality of closed captions in a lightbox slide. Hopefully other folks in the community who have had a similar experience can chime in and share what they've done!
Not sure where to post this. I am unable to view video closed captioning when the video is in a lightbox. I set up a test where the video is viewed as a regular slide and cc works fine. When I view the same slide as a lightbox, the cc does not work. I'll have to recreate this differently. Thought you should know this is an issue.
Hi there, Steven. Thanks for popping in - this discussion is a great place to let us know what's happening on your end!
We have an issue where closed captions are displaying behind the video in a lightbox slide when using the modern player. Does that sound like what's happening to you? Is using the classic player a viable workaround for now?
Just let me know, and I'll add this discussion to the report so we can update you here with any changes.
I'm using the classic player and don't see the captions at all when using a lightbox. I decided to put the video on it's own layer and fake a lightbox. That works.
Glad you found a method that will work, but I'm still wondering what was occurring in your file! If you have another copy set up as you described, with your permission I'd like to take a look at it and investigate further.
I am currently using SL 3.21.17083.0 (Octover 30,2018). There were issues with the next couple versions and I haven't had time to test out the latest. there are 3 slides in this test. 1. A start slide; 2. video on page slide; and 3. lightbox slide. The lightbox slide pulls in slide #2.
Thanks for sharing a sample project with us, Steven!
I uploaded your project to Review using Storyline 360, version 3.24.17733.0, where I'm having a little trouble recreating any closed caption issues. Here's a quick Peek of the test! I'll still need your help, so we can get to the bottom of this.
Do you experience the same behavior when you publish the file on the latest update? Let me know, and we'll work on some next steps!
I ran into the same issue mentioned above: Closed caption text not visible for a video in a Lightbox when using the Modern player. I have a two-click workaround. Not ideal, but not too painful either. See attached.

You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I’ll delete it when I’m done troubleshooting.

Thanks, Richard for that workaround. I hope it helps someone else as our team continues to keep an eye on this issue and investigate.
