Capturing data from text field

Oct 20, 2020

Hi all,

I have a question about Articulate Storyline...

I am currently working on this e-learning module where I have a screen with a question. It asks "What do you think Project Management is?" Underneath there is a textfield where the user enters their answer and then clicks a SUBMIT button. Once they have done this, they will see the correct answer below.

Now, I have been asked to somehow capture their answers. The e-learning module will sit on an LMS but I need to find out what is the best way of getting this information into some area on the LMS so that I can view this? Maybe use this module in conjunction with Microsoft Forms OR does Storyline have the functionality to email this?

Any ideas? I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks in advance!

Keith

Hello Keith!

I'm happy to help! You can capture these answers using a Results Slide and then set the tracking option to the Results Slide when Publishing.

First, are you using a Survey Question slide with a text entry field? If not, I'd recommend adding either a short answer or an essay Survey Question. Next, add a Results Slide that includes the question. Lastly, publish the course for LMS and choose Results Slide as the Tracking option.

I've created a sample file with this format and attached it to this reply. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the follow-up! In the file Lauren shared, as it stands, you can use either the Return or Submit button to submit the question slide.

If you'd prefer to use the Submit button only, you can increase the height of the text entry box to be more than two lines so the Return key registers as a carriage return (new line), and does not submit the question.

Let me know if you have any further questions about this!
