You could add a custom timer to a slide that is started when the timeline starts and is stopped when the submit button is clicked. The bigger question (to me anyway) is: What do you want to do with that timer value then?
I just remembered this simple example of a timer here. This one is used to 'count' the progress of a video, but it could be adapted to stop upon button click.
