Case or No Case 2: Quiz Results Variable Questions

Jul 02, 2012

For those who are just getting in on this project, this thread will bring you up to speed: http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/14812/86101.aspx#86101

Now I am wanting the results of two quizzes to be shown on a comparison slide such that we see Learner Answer Pretest, Learner Answer Posttest, Correct answer.  I have created a comparison slide but need help with the variables. Phil has offered a solution that will work:

"If you are showing individual question responses you will need to create variables for each of these, I would create my quiz and duplicate it.  Add a results slide for each quiz (pre and post).  This will give you the score and percentage as variables.

I would then build my comparison slide, using the result slide variables and my custom question variables.

You will need a variable for each of the pre and post test variables

Its a reasonable amount of work, but it will work."

You'll see from the attached file that I attempted to create the variable and work with this, but to no avail.  I understand in my head what should happen, but translating this into Storyline is where I get hung up.  Thanks for your help, community!

Hi Jonathan,

Great project! I like the pre post comparison idea and took a shot at one way of building the comparison page. I've borrowed and combined some great ideas from others in the previous threads, please take a look and see what you think.  I noticed in your file that the textbox for Directions on the main slide had triggers assigned at both the slide and object levels (bug?), so I tried to rely on state changes using the native normal and hidden states instead. The quiz comparison page at the end is set up to display varying image states based on the result of T/F variables (images are only set up case1). If reporting the quiz score will be needed, more work will be needed on submitting the pick one question responses for scoring. Hope this is may be of help to this phase of your project!

Great!! Glad it was of help. After a bit further thought on tracking/displaying for the two quiz scores, here's another file with a few changes to take a look at...please see what you think.

Changes to the pick one question edit/set up to:

- set feedback to on and to By Question

- once the feedback was on, cleared the default text present in the correct and incorrect response fields

- set branching for each response to jump to the 1.1 Quiz Intro slide when submitted

- reconfigured triggers a bit

Only Case1_R1 and Case2_R1 are set up so far, each with a little different way of submitting:

- Case1_R1 is set up for the user to choose, then click the submit button

- Case2_R2 is set up to submit as soon as the user makes the choice

Quiz comparison page - added the quiz score % to the bottom of the column

Hopefully you may find these will be some nice improvements!  Best regards, -Greg
