Cell phone

Oct 06, 2015

I was wondering if anyone had developed an interactive cell phone where I could 'test' a person's ability to remember the number for Poison Control Center. I want to make a point that you should not rely on your memory and it should be entered into the phone.

Does anyone have that? Or any ideas on how to build that?

Hey Michael, thanks so much for sharing this! I work with Thia and am working on this slide for a module. I've modified your slide a bit, and am hoping that users can enter the number the poison control hotline, which is 18002221222. A couple questions...you'll notice on repeat numbers (0 & 2) that multiple 0's and 2's pop up when clicked; is there a way to make them come up individually (you'd have to hit "2" twice to get "22", instead of clicking once). My other question is: once the user get's to the second "1", the phone number resets. I have tried using conditions to set it that when you click your second "1" it should read 18002221. I'll probably use the same solution for the final 2's. Do those questions make sense? Any help from you or other contributers/staff/heroes would be much appreciated! (I'll work on formatting the slide better once the formulas/triggers are all working :)  )

Pierce, have a look at the attached and see if that's what you wanted. To account for the multiple occurrences of the same digits, I added a new variable DigitPosition to determine the current position within the number string. Based on that I enable/hide the next number button. Hope that makes sense.

Hi all. I needed a 'phone dialer' and came across this thread.  I ended up having to develop my own, so I figured I'd share it here.  It was a bit tricky because SL rounds off numbers bigger than a million, and I had to get creative with variables and triggers. Anyway, fair game if anybody wants to use it.

Thanks Michael Hinze, this work well.

I do not understand why the DigiPosition is needed, but I appreciate what you provided.

Well done!

It's been a long time since I did this example, but as far as I remember the variable was required to make sure that only a specific keypad button is enabled, based on which numbers had already been entered.

Well, it worked. It worked very well and saved me several hours (if not days) trying to figure-out how to achieve this objective.
Cheers!
