I'm trying to work out a good way of issuing certificates and issuing individual student results. As an example we have one course with 10 modules. Can I create a certificate that shows the results of those 10 modules?
If not, I am thinking I will have a certificate as a standalone module at the end of the course, but how can students print off/email their manager their results without having to print the results of each individual module? Is there any way of collating the results?

Have you seen the way here in regards to create certificates? It's not officially supported but a lot of community users use that method.
Also, in regards to tracking, you'll want to use an LMS to track your results.
