Maybe something like....creating a number variable. Every time the user clicks the Hints button (to display extra info/lightbox slide etc) it will add 1 to the number variable. Once the number variable reaches 5, you can then create a trigger to disable that Hints button.
You could use variables, but you might also be able to just use the try again layer. Attempts are set either when you first create a quiz, or after the quiz has been created:
Click the Edit Quiz button in the right panel
Look near the top of the dialog box for the Attempts drop-down. Make your selection and click the Save and close button.
When you add attempts, a Try Again layer is automatically created.
The attached quiz has 3 attempts. I modified the try again layer so that a hint appears, rather than the standard text.
