Change audio quality setting without publish?

Aug 03, 2012

Is there a way to change the audio quality setting without publishing first?

I can find the audio quality setting in the publish dialog and change it. But then there is no "Apply" button. And I don't want to sit through a publish so I just click cancel, but then the new setting doesn't stick.

Am I missing some other place to set it?

Also the previews in various places seem to use different bit rates from each other. The play preview on the timeline sounds tinny and bad to me, but in the audio editor it sounds good.

Thanks. I am using ProTools, SoundBooth, and Audacity to create my audio files at the bit rate we want to use. But they still sound at the SL default until I've done a publish. After I adjust it and publish they sound just fine. So it all works out in the end. I'm new to SL and just trying to figure it all out — so I just wanted to be sure there wasn't some completely obvious thing to which I was completely oblivious.

I've submitted a feature request to add a "save" or "apply" type button to the publish screen so that one doesn't actually need to publish to make any of the options on that screen stick.
