CHANGE BUTTON STATE ON LANDING PAGE
Mar 07, 2019
Hi there eLearning Heroes! I have a course that has lived in too many iterations at this point :( BUT perseverance. DESCRIPTION: The landing page/home has 8 buttons that launch informational sets. Each slide set loops back to the landing page/home.
ISSUE: Buttons are based blue in their "NORMAL" state. I have changed the button color to purple when "VISITED" or "SELECTED" the button.
The purple color change works for the initial launch/button selection - but the color change of the button does not hold as the story loops back to the landing/home.
eLEARNING WISHES: I am seeking a solution to have the purple color remain on buttons that have been visited/selected rather than reverting back to the initial blue.
Any heroes out there with recommendations as to how to do so?
Thanks!!!

Hi Simcha,
Have you checked that your landing page slide's properties are "Resume saved state"? That should keep the state of your objects on a revisit.
Also, since Visited and Selected are built in states, I wouldn't use triggers to apply them, but let Storyline work it's magic based on their definitions here.
Thank you, Ashley! Incredibly helpful :)
The struggle is with STATES applied to Groups v. objects/shapes/picture. I can assign the some triggers to certain components but not across all in grouping. Any additional tips. It is getting dicey and I do not know how to reprogram/retrigger :( Thanks!
Hi Simcha!
You're spot on – you won't be able to trigger a state change to a group. Instead, you'll have to create a trigger to change the state of each object individually.
If you need extra help with that, would you be willing to share a sample slide here to we can see what you've got going so far? You can also send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
