Change Icon Menu

Aug 14, 2017

Hi there,

I'm working my way through the Practice Activity: Edit and Format a Marker tutorial. When I click on the "Change Icon" tab, I see a whole menu of black circles without any of the icons actually showing up. Please see attached image.

Any idea what's up? Thanks!

Colin

Hi Colin,

If Wendy's suggestion doesn't work, can you let us know what version of Storyline you're using? Did you see this immediately upon opening a new .story file or had you been creating things for awhile?

I'd also double check that you're on the latest update of your version (Help tab -> About Articulate Storyline) and that you're working on local project files.

I've attached a screenshot to show the version I'm working on.

I'm working on a tutorial file that I downloaded to my hard drive. Just to clarify, the tutorial instructs us to change the fill of the marker to black and then to click on "Change Icon."

Perhaps that's where I went wrong . . .

Hey Colin!

Looks like you've uncovered a bug! Thanks for letting us know about this. I'm seeing the same on my end:

If you select the Icon Color to be white from here:

The icon color remains black in the Change Icon dropdown.

However- if you select one of the icons in that dropdown, the marker itself will show the white icon. This isn't very handy when it comes to choosing an icon though!

Any other color you choose appears to work, and oddly enough if you select More Colors under Icon Colors and choose white from there:

That will carry over to the Change Icon dropdown:

So that's a good workaround for now while you're going through that tutorial.

I've reported this to my team as a possible software bug for Storyline 360. From here, I’ll meet with my team to take a closer look so we can determine next steps. Sometimes my team catches errors in my logic and we don’t have a bug after all. Of course, if that’s the case, I’ll let you know!

Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs.

I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this!

Thanks again for letting us know-- good eye! And don't hesitate to reach out here if you run into any more hiccups while working through those tutorials. ☺️
