1. I am desperately looking for a possibility to change the path of a picture to a new path (to a different picture). Is there a way to do this? I wasn't able to find a way to change the path option of a picture by the action event. Maybe there is a hand coded java script solution?
Any hint/advice is appreciated.
2. My second question is: How does storyline work in the background. If I insert a picture, does it make a copy of my picture and insert/save it in the my *.story file (container)? This would mean, that any later change at the original source file, will have no effect on my storyline project.

It sounds as if you are asking to change the picture in the published output, which is not something we support.
As you mentioned, the picture does become a part of your project and will be included in the published output file.
