Change the color of on-screen text for a certain amount of time

Hi there,

I'm sure there must be a more elegant and efficient solution for this.  Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

The slides that I'm creating for my software developer courses will frequently display snippets of code.  The learner needs to be able to see the entire snippet of code on the slide all at once (the snippets typically range from 5-8 lines of code), but I want portions of the code to be bolded (or change in colour) as the narrator references it.  The idea is that the learner needs to easily see which specific portion of code the narrator is verbally referencing.

I tried experimenting with call-out boxes, arrows, and other ways of providing a visual cue for the learner, but this tends to clutter the screen and/or obscure other portions of the code.  The ideal solution is for the text to change in color or be bolded as the narrator references it.

What would be some recommended ways of achieving this effect?
