Change the Default Story Size?

Dec 10, 2015

Is there a way to change the default story size to 16:9 in Storyline 2?  We cannot use the default 4:3 size for our purposes and have to remember to change it each time we create a new activity. After having just spent HOURS and HOURS rebuilding a complex interactive because I forgot to change the size before it was completely done, I'd like to prevent that from ever happening again! Changing the default would prevent that.  Any ideas--other than hanging a huge Post-It note on my screen to remind me? :-)

Hi, Nina -- So sorry to hear of your troubles, and unfortunately, as also stated in this thread that asks a similar question, "There isn't a way to change the default - so if you'll be importing in slides or a .story file with a different size, you'll want to adjust the story size before getting started."

If you would like to share your thoughts or suggestions with our product development team, you are welcome to use this form to do so. Thanks! :)

Nina,

You might consider creating a master template .story file from which you create all of your projects, if they all have the same size. We do this as most of our background, Slide Masters, etc. are the same or very similar. As you know, changing the story size after the fact can make all hell break loose in your design!

Nina,

I have stopped thinking about what I need to add to a new presentation, and started thinking about what I need to change on an already perfect one. When I have finish a presentation, the last thing I do is Save As... and change the name to the succeeding presentation.

Then I have a checklist I made in a spreadsheet that lists the items that need to be changed for a different presentation. I go through the list, delete the content slides, and I'm set. All my overhead is finished. I keep slides with things like intros, navigation, credits, titles, presenter bio and picture. Usually the changes to those are minor. I find changing the name of the presenter in the footer of the master is easier than adding to our branded master from scratch, for example.
