Hi Jeni

The Player font size window will also control the captions font size. In this way, the caption text is like an extension of the rest of the Player text.

To increase the font size for captions, adjust the font size in your player properties. Note that this setting affects all your player features, not just captions.

  1. Go to the Home tab on the Storyline ribbon and click Player.
  2. When the player properties window opens, click Colors & Effects on the ribbon.
  3. Increase the Player font size percentage. It can be any percentage between 75% and 200%.
  4. Click OK to save and close the player settings.

I have a follow-up to this. We set our cc font in the player and ensure we don't use really long sentences in the captions. However, depending on the user's display resolution, monitor size, if they are setting their display settings for fonts (i.e. 100 percent or 150 percent) they are getting really different experiences about how readable the font is. Is there a way to keep it from scaling so dramatically that it appears tiny to some users and in some other cases so large it is cutting off other elements on the slide?

Hi Mindy, and thank you for your question!

While the Storyline view will change to accommodate the best viewing experience across various devices, there is no way to adjust the closed captioning font for each user.

Although with a recent update, you can now Make closed captions easier to read. Increase the captions font size up to 200% in the modern player; I am not sure that this will solve the discrepancies in viewing based on individual player settings.

I would encourage your users to adjust their display settings if they have issues with the font being cut off.

Please let me know if you have additional questions I can help you with!
