I have to produce a slide that contains 4 statements that need to be rearranged into the correct order. I have set the slide up and it works fine apart from how it displays the text for each statement. Each statement is a paragraph long, all 4 statements fit perfectly well on the slide when set in Arial 10pt but when each statement is displayed in the interaction the text reduces in size to about 6pt and is almost unreadable but half the slide is empty space.
Does anyone know how to increase the size of the statement containers? There must be a way to do this but I'm new to this.
I think the problem comes from the format options (right click you robject), in text tab, you should uncheck the option "adjust text size automatically" (sorry if it's not the exact words, I'm using storyline french version)
If you choose "Do not Autofit", the text will not change size. If you choose :Shrink text on overflow, the text will shrink to fit the container (which sounds like what is happening), and if you choose "Resize shape to fit text", the container will change size.
Thanks for the replies. Can you tell me where to find these options? I've created a Sequence drag and drop slide but can't see anywhere to alter it's attributes.
thanks for the reply, not sure how I'm going to get round this. I've also noticed that the text sits 1 line above it's corresponding box. This is my first project using Storyline and I have to say that as a Flash developer I'm finding it very restrictive in it's lack of customisation.
an alternative would be to create one from scratch using freeform - gives you the freedom to make the shapes/text boxes the size you want - see attached rough example that may give you an idea.
I've created a freeform drag and drop but there doesn't seem to be an option to swap the drag items around. I have 4 statements that need to be rearranged into the correct order, in the standard drag and drop, when an item was dropped onto a target, the item that was already there swapped places with the new one. I've selected to only allow one item per target in the options but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
there is no holding space for the one you are moving - SL doesn't know to move drag item 4 to drop target 1 if that is the spare space where you are dragging from - that's why I gave you the alternative of having the drop targets in one column and the drag items shuffled in another then the user places them in order.
Someone else may chime in with a way of doing it using your setup - sorry I couldn't be more help.
no worries, you've at least got me one stage further on. My problem really is the amount of text that has to go into the slide, there's no room to have separate target boxes. Maybe I'll do it the other way round ie: drag the numbers to create the correct sequence - not perfect but may work.
You mentioned a spacing issue with the sequence drag and drop and how the text sits above the corresponding box? I went to take a look at it, but it seems the file you shared here is the custom drag and drop you set up. Do you have the original one - as the way you described the text outside of the box didn't sound right and so I'd want to take a look at it.
Totally understand Colin - if you run into the odd text line behavior again, feel free to share a copy of your .story file here with the community or send it along to our Support Engineers here, they're available 24/7.
Is it possible to increase the width of the text box/drop-down? I don't mind that they all change together, but I just want them all to be wider and can't figure out how to do it.
Do you want to change the width of the Matching Drop-Down box, like this?
There isn't a way to increase the width of those boxes, but I'll let our team know you have a need for more customization options. Thanks for reaching out!
Also, I requested the ability to alter the colour of DnD boxes (as I work for a large company who have very specific brand regulations), do you know if this is planned for future updates as essentially I cannot use DnD in it's current state which is such a shame.
I have no idea if any changes are planned in these. I always look at these question types as legacy questions to. maintain compatibility with Quizmaker.
This idea hasn't bubbled up to the top of our roadmap, but we're still listening to the feedback! Here's a bit more about how we work to prioritize feature requests.
I'd love to have you share any more details about what you'd need to use these question types if you're up for logging a feature request.

RIght click on the object, select "format shape". and then "text box" tab.
select "do not autofit".
Hi Colin
unfortunately you can't modify the sequence DnD shape options. If you enter a lot of text it will automatically shrink to fit

Hi Mehdi,
I think Wendy is right, all the options in the text box tab are greyed out

Hi Colin
can you upload the slide? Easier to help you if we can see the setup. Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post.
Hi,
here's the basic slide

Hi Ashley,
sorry, I deleted that slide and created the freeform one in it's place.

Has anyone found a solution to this without recreating to a freeform? I'm having the same issue.
