Character packs saved on computer to import in Storyline

Mar 05, 2013

Hello,

I was wondering how I would go about importing character packs that have saved on my computer into Storyline.  I found a link showing me how to save them once you buy them, but I already have several already purchased character packs saved on my computer from some time ago that I would like to import into Storyline.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Christine--I, too, have the promotional character pack that I waited to install. However,  when I insert my serial number, I can't move forward. I've copied the serial number from the original email as well as from the activated Storyline software. The "Back" button remains active, but the "Next" button on that screen does not become active.

Any suggestions?

Hi Bob,

If you haven't already, you may want to go ahead and contact our support team. They'll be able to take a look and see if there's an issue with the serial, or what may be keeping it from properly submitting.

So, it was user error!

I failed to notice that when I downloaded the Character pack, I got an email with a separate license number (different from my Storyline license number).

When you use the correct license number, the character pack installs without a hitch. Imagine that!

Thanks, Christine and thanks to Articulate Support. You have the best support in this industry, and maybe even the best support in any industry.

I appreciate all your help.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Jelani!

Afraid I'm not entirely sure what's happening for you. Are you having trouble locating the actual APC file(s) on your hard drive after downloading them?

This article covers importing the packs, but you'll need to find the file that was downloaded to install it. If you use Windows Explorer, you should be able to search for "*.apc".

If you're still having trouble with this, can you tell me where you're having trouble?

Thanks very much and welcome again!

Christine -

My company purchased a character pack for storyline not too after we purchased our Storyline licenses, and I do have access to the unzipped APC files.  The APC files are located here on a shared drive that only a select few Instructional Designers have access to.  However, I am having trouble importing these files into storyline. (the trouble is I don't know where to start, and the directions from the link you provided seems to not apply to me)

If I need access to the original download I'm afraid that I do not that access, whereas I am not the one who originally downloaded the pack.  I was told to contact articulate for help to install the character packs.

I hope that provides a little more clarity.  Any suggestions?

Hi Jelani,

Ahhh, I see. If you didn't have access to the original download, I'm not entirely sure that purchase and download would be something you'd be able to use.

What you may want to do is contact our support team. They'll be able to find out if the purchase for that pack can be imported with your Storyline license. If you cannot use that particular pack and you're able to use the one that was previously purchased, they may be able to share the original download information with you and walk you through installing it.
