Character pop-up/state change to prompt Learners
Jul 19, 2012
This situation was posed recently (although I couldn't find it in the forums): a Storyline slide contains a YouTube video as a web object How can the slide be set up in a way that restricts Learners from moving to the next slide until the video is finished?
Jeanette gave the answer in a Screenr here, explaining how to set up the variables and conditions to make this work.
I used Jeanette's model, but set things up so that a Storyline character appears to remind Learners they must finish the video. I thought it might add a bit of "social engagement" to have a character's body posture and facial expressions, including a state change, show her exasperation with a Learner who wasn't following instructions.
Admittedly, you wouldn't want to overdo this, since it could also be a bit distracting.
If you're interested, you'll find my Screenr here
