Character replaced by black box when using "side right perspective

Jan 08, 2013

I have inserted a character on a slide, and want to have him in the "side right" perspective. Unfortunately, at this angle he becomes a black box upon preview or publishing. If I duplicate the slide and change only his perspective to either "side left" or "front" then the character appears normally and the state change occurs as planned. As far as I know, I have downloaded all available Storyline updates and have rebooted my PC several times. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks!

Good morning Jessie,

Thanks very much for all of the screenshots. However, I was not able to recreate this issue with the Male 17 character.

Have you added any effects (shadowing, etc.) to the character, or does this happen with the default version of the character?

Also, are you able to recreate this in a new, blank Storyline project?

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Christine,

I have not added any additional effects to the character, such as shadows or any other visual effects. I did create a second state for the character, which only involves a change in pose. That state change is triggered by clicking on a picture. I am able to recreate this in a new blank Storyline project. The issue is also not limited to Male 17. I have found that I experience the same problem with many of the other characters. Here are the ones I've tried so far that have the same problem:

  • Males 1, 2, 3, 7, 9
  • Female 11
  • Female 2 and 13 are fine in their initial state, but become a black box after state change

Thanks for any thoughts you might have!

Good morning Jessie,

I was checking in on your case this morning and I wanted to see if the last suggestion fixed the problem for you. I see that Jayem recommended the troubleshooting steps in this article. I just wanted to take a minute to see if this cleared up the issue for you, or if you're still working with this. If the issue still exists, please respond to the case so that Jayem can continue working with you.

Thanks very much Jessie. I hope you have a great day!
