I have a character on the base layer as well as on a separate layer (Different pose, location and size.) Even though I have selected that all base layer items not be shown when the slide layer is active she still shows up. Is this a bug? I know I can add a white background shape but I was wondering if we can't use the same character on layers and on the base. (Items on this attachment have been blacked out for security reasons.)

I don't see this behavior logged as a bug yet, but I'd love to help investigate. What Storyline 360 update are you using? To find this detail, click on the Help tab > About Storyline.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your .story file (even just the troublesome slide will do) to see what's happening. You can send it to me privately by using this upload link – I'll let you know what I find and will delete the file after!
I have added a white background to cover the duplicates underneath since I need to deliver this soon. I will try and make a sample for you later. I just upgraded to the latest version today and the same issue is happening.
