can you share the .story file - easier for someone to assist if they can take a look at how you've got it setup.  Even just the pesky slide in question :-)

Here is a rough sample John of two Pick Many questions - the first one has one attempt, the second one has (3) attempts.  See if this is the behaviour you are experiencing.

is this a graded question as part of a quiz? I can see you have custom scoring going and there isn't a submit interaction trigger.

Can you explain how you are using this slide and how many attempts do you want them to have?

I have created calculation slides before the results slide and it is a freeform question

I've copied the question text boxes and all the checkboxes (not all the background formatting) to a new freeform Pick Many and the attempts dropdown is available for selection. I think your slide may be corrupt

I have done the same now however the check box still will not allow me to unselect it

Hi John

remove any triggers you have that change the state of a checkbox to selected when the user clicks.  Selected state is a built in SL state and SL automatically knows to toggle the check mark on when the user clicks once and then remove the checkmark when they click again.

See attached video I removed the triggers you had and its working as expected.
