child layers?
May 31, 2015
Is there a way to have child layers within Storyline? I have a tab interaction with multiple layers. The secondary level has a graphic that needs to stay visible when showing the third level. Yes, I can copy that graphic to each layer, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to. I am trying to be efficient and keep the file size down. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Christine,
Couple of ways I can think of that would make this work:
1) Use Feedback masters to apply common visuals to each layer.
2) Use a layer that opens first to contain the common visuals, then open another layer to display the unique content. When the second layer is not set to hide the first, the effect of nested layers can be created.
Personally, I'd go for the first of the two.
Thanks, I'll give those a try.
Thanks for the great suggestions, Steve! Christine, please feel free to update if you are all set or if you still need some additional assistance. :)
To add to Steve's suggestion, the only downside of turning off "hide other layers" is that you have to set triggers to manually hide all other "tab interaction" layers.
