Chinese characters not rendering properly

Sep 17, 2018

Hi team,

We're currently developing a Chinese translation for one of our clients. We exported the English course into a Word doc, got it translated and imported it back into Storyline. The import went smoothly, but the published course didn't render properly.

Not only are the characters in consistent (some look like bold sans-serif type and some look like the traditional characters), but some of the characters show up as just gibberish. I've attached a screenshot of what one of the slides looks like.

Is there a way to resolve this? Would really appreciate some assistance. Thank you!

Hi Alyssa,

Thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate your help.

  • I'm currently using Storyline 360 v3.19.166. I'm currently using Windows 10.
  • The font being used is DengXian, but I can't seem to find it in the system. It was just the font that showed up when we imported the translation file. I also can't find any other available Chinese fonts in Storyline's font selector.
  • Modern Text rendering is currently enabled.
