Chrome defaulting to HTML5 over Flash

Aug 10, 2016

Hi all,

Google has identified that going forward they are prioritizing HTML5 content over Flash. Apparently FireFox has already taken these steps. Given that Storyline's HTML5 output is missing features from its Flash counterpart, how is Articulate responding?

(While I don't mind excluding HTML5 output from future built courses, I'd rather not have to re-export every old course just to make them continue to work.)

Hi David,

Chrome is the browser that we recommend for viewing HTML5 content so you should be fine if it's automatically pointing to the story_html5.html link vs. the story.html option. You can re-enable Flash within Chrome and Firefox. You may want to take a look at some older threads such as this one where myself and Brian Gil, the Head of Product operations shared information on our plans going forward.

Please feel free to let us know if you have other questions.
