Clicking Player in SL2 doesn't work

Jan 12, 2017

Hello, I am wondering if there is a bug in SL2 when Player is clicked. Every time I click Player, it generates an Articulate Storyline Error Report dialog box saying "we're sorry, something went wrong with Articulate Storyline and it might close." Hoping someone can let me know if this is a known issue and if there is a solution. Looking to change player properties but at the moment, it isn't letting me. I should add that this message is occurring in completed modules and new modules that I create in Storyline.

My tech support uninstalled SL2 and reinstalled the application, however, still having the same issues in terms of not being able to use preview or the player functionality. I am being told that it is because I have Adobe Creative Cloud installed onto my 64 BIT OS and that you cannot have CC and SL2 on the same set. Anyone else know this to be true? Another weird thing is that the moment I launch SL2, it tells me Flash Player 10 or higher for IE is required to run Articulate Storyline. I have Flash Player 22 NPAPI installed. I am in a bind because I am being forced to decide between keeping SL2 or Adobe CC.

Hey Jennifer!

Sorry you're encountering this! This sounds similar an issue that was resolved in an update for Storyline 2, which added support for later versions of Flash Player. Just to verify, are you currently running the latest update for Storyline 2, update 11? You can check which update you're on by going to Help > About Storyline 2. If you're not running update 11, you can download the most up-to-date version over here.

If you're on the latest update and still encountering these issues, make sure you have the most recent Flash Player version installed for Internet Explorer specifically. You'll also want to make sure that you're on the most recent update for your Window's version.

Let me know how that goes!

I managed to find one other person on my team who has both Adobe Creative Cloud and Storyline 2 installed and working with no issues. I then asked her which version of Flash she had, went back to my tech team to have that version installed. Also needed Adobe Flash Active X, without Active X, Player and Preview functionalities in SL2 are disabled. End result: I don't have to uninstall Adobe CC or SL2 permanently, they can co-exist but it was a circus for my tech team to get a hold of the correct Adobe Flash files from the Adobe site. Just glad I didn't have to make such a choice! Thanks for your advice.
