Is there any general best practice for how long a closed caption box should be - a complete sentence, a breath? What is too long and what is too short? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I wrote a course for Google on how to caption videos. The common consensus was each line should be no more than 45 characters long and no more that 90 characters in a caption over two lines. The caption should also ideally be an inverse pyramid.
You should aim to make it easy to read so split text ideally at periods, but you can do commas or other punctuation, try not to make it difficult to read.

Thank you Phil. That is perfect - exactly what I was looking for.
