When I click the button to turn on closed captions, it disappears from the player. Although invisible, it let's me click again to hide the captions and doing so makes the button visible again.
This course is being published for LMS, with the HTML5 only.
The moral of the story is, you can't design your player with a white background and white icons. Client isn't going to be happy, they requested this color scheme. Darn.
Has anyone determine how to change the selected background color of the closed caption button using css, etc? Seems like the caption button would be better off using the styling colors of the rest of the buttons. Is this something that is being planned on a future release?
Today, one of my trusted coworkers figured out that when publishing to HTML5, the Caption button's active state inherits the color of Tab -> Selected Background.

I tested a publish for Flash only instead of HTML5 and the issue persists.

Hi Megan! Good eye. :) Thanks for updating everyone, and for providing a handy pro tip!
Good luck with the client.
