When I am exporting the closed captioning from a project, it shows that the file will be saved as a Web Video Text Tracks File (*.vtt). However, when I go to the saved file, it is actually an .mp4 file. I can open the file in a text editor and make changes, but I can't import it into Storyline because the program thinks it is a video file. Please help.
I have added two images: one is showing the export and the other shows the saved file.
Thanks for contacting us to share what you are seeing when you export your captions.
I tested exporting regular captions added with the text to speech function as well as added video captions and they both exported as .vtt files as expected.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
I encountered the same issue yesterday. I found out that the dialog box to export, even though it said it would save as the *.vtt file type, it was not. I tried it again and deleted the ".m4v" extension from my file name and it worked.
I am encountering the same issue. 2 days ago I was able to export closed captions perfectly as a VTT .... today, when i export it says that they are exporting as a VTT but really save as an MP4. Its exhausting

Melanie, what I have been doing now that works for me is after I click Export, I just add ".vtt" to the file name and it works just fine.
