Are there any future plans (or rumors) that the CC tool will get some desired options for display, such as:
Ability to move the CC field to different places on the content screen, like close to the bottom of the chrome;
Being able to determine a consistent width of the CC area;
Setting transparency for the CC box.
This feature would be so much greater if these options could become a reality. I'm sure other devs would have some options they'd like to see as well. Here's hoping!

I second all of Richard's suggestions. For language courses, it would be a godsend to have manipulable CC.
I am not comfortable hacking published output as Matthew suggests.
