I've nothing to offer on this one. Both are high-end Dell laptops/Windows 7/Chrome browser, no Flash. One has problems with Closed Captioning as described. I cannot figure out what could be the issue.
I don't believe delivering a .story would help or I'd take the time to upload it.

I'm not sure if you're just looking for community feedback here, but that's not an issue I'm familiar with.
You mention a machine, but is there anything similar about the environment or browser?
If you have a .story file for us to take a look at, feel free to share and point us to one of the slides you're having difficulty with.
We'd be happy to take a look.
