I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!
One new feature we’ve included:
Boost video accessibility by including closed captions when publishing projects as MP4 video files.
To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

I don't believe Captions are actually imbedded into video files. They are always a separate function of the video site you use to present the video. Externally, the captions are in .SRT files that are usually uploaded to the video site as a secondary action. This is my experience with captions and stand-alone videos.
SL has no problem with captions in videos when the course is published to SL format.

Being able to add closed captions to MP4 microlearning will be a huge asset to our organization. However, I have not been able to get the closed captions to appear when I view my exported MP4 using Windows Media Player, which is the one most widely provided to our employees. Is there a more detailed tutorial or perhaps a trouble-shooting guide to help me out with this new feature? The one Kelly linked above does not provide me the information I need to troubleshoot.

I'm happy to help! Using Window's default Media player, you can enable the captions in your published video by clicking the 'Languages and subtitles' button and selecting the corresponding subtitle file, as shown below:
If the issue persists, kindly share what Windows Media Player version you are using. The legacy version does not support subtitles.
