Closing a Lightbox plays every layer on a slide

Feb 01, 2019

Yet another course-breaking bug...

If you put media (video or audio) on layers on a slide and you open and close a lightbox, when the lightbox closes, it plays all the media on each slide at the same time, resulting in a nightmare for the user.

This bug has been around for months and is still in the latest version that was just released. Is there any plan to fix this?

Hi there, Smartfirm.  I'm sorry you're being affected by this bug.  It has high priority with our team currently.  I'm adding your discussion to our report so we can update you when a fix is released.

In the meantime, the workaround is to place a trigger on your layers with audio to Play media (audio) when timeline starts (layer timeline).  This trigger will prevent audio from playing automatically after closing a lightbox slide.

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is:

Fixed: Audio tracks from multiple layers could play simultaneously, even when the layers weren't open.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
