Completion % reporting through SCORM

Mar 04, 2016

Hey all,

I'm trying to get my SCORM packages which have been created using Storyline2 to pass along completion % through SCORM to my LMS. It seems like I'm either missing a setting, or it isn't a feature that Storyline has.  It seems like it's mostly a binary solution with Complete/Incomplete.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to hack the SCORM package so that it does report even when Storyline doesn't?  I'd really like some visibility into where my learners are, and also to help me identify design problems that may be keeping completion from being reported correctly.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Paul!

Your reporting and tracking options that are built into the software are shown below:

Reporting status:
When publishing, click the Reporting and Tracking button and select the pair of values you want to use:

  • Passed/Incomplete
  • Passed/Failed
  • Completed/Incomplete
  • Completed/Failed

Tracking option:
When you’re publishing a course authored in either Articulate Storyline or Articulate Presenter, click the Reporting and Tracking button and specify whether you want to track course completion based on the number of slides viewed or by a particular quiz in the course.

This article explains the quiz data that is sent to the LMS.

Thanks for your reply Leslie.

Thankfully, I had already been able to find the online help. This doesn't really address my question though. I'm not asking how to track course completion. That's fine and that works just like you would expect.

I'm asking how to track the % complete on learners who have NOT completed the course.  Right now, Storyline dutifully reports either 0% or 100% but none of the parts in between. That's what I am trying to ascertain.

Am I to infer that based on the knowledge base article that the answer is just "nope"?

Hi Paul!

You are correct. I apologize for not being clear.

I'm not sure how you have your course set to track, but if it were via a result slide set to pass at 80% for instance - then user would not 'pass or complete' unless the score was 80% or higher and if tracking via slides viewed, then the minimum would have to be reached for the same.

Not sure if others in the community have creative ways via coding to accomplish this.

I know that I've seen a conversation specific to Moodle here if you'd like to take a look.
