Complicated Drag and Drop Interaction: Side-by-side Review

Aug 08, 2017

I am working on a rather complex drag and drop interaction for a client's course. My client would like the user to be able to complete the interaction near the beginning of the course, then come back and complete the same interaction again at the end of the course. This drag and drop interaction has no correct or incorrect answers and multiple possible ways draggable items can match with targets. After completing both interactions, she would like to user to be able to review both answers side by side.

I have built the drag and drop interaction and created a duplicate of the first drag and drop interaction at the end of the course.  However, I am really struggling with how to make the side-by-side review possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi Susi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I considered something like that, but the problem is I have 48 small draggable objects, each of which can be (but don't have to be) dropped on any of the three drop targets and arranged in any order.

So not only would I need to create an excessive amount of variables and triggers (which I am not opposed to doing if it's the only option), I don't think I can use states to show the results, unfortunately - there are just too many possible ways things could be arranged.

I have been looking for some way I can embed previous slides from the course, or show two lightboxes side by side, or somehow have the first drag and drop activity affect a copy of it later on in the course, or something, but none of those seem to be built in options.

Thank you,

Sarah
