Concentration Game

Dec 17, 2012

Has anyone created a concentration game on Storyline? Do you know of any engines that already exist? Any suggestions? I thought I would use layers and valuables. But would rather not invent the wheel if someone has already done so. mkw

Still working on my concentration game. I've got my cards flipping and when 2 cards match they disappear revealing a portion of the image beneath. It is working very efficiently......too efficiently, learners don't get a chance to see what makes the two cards a match. Is there a way I can build a timer or a delay into the process? Thanks for all your help. mkw

I started with Stephanie's Memory Game as my backdrop. My goal is to be able to work with 9 matched pairs and to randomly scatter the cards around the screen (to allow for multiple plays). I would share what I have so far, but I can't seem to get the files through our firewall. Not sure what the problem is. Is there an e-mail I can send the zipped folder? mkw

This is comes really close to what I want to do. Are you willing to share your story file? I figured I would be working mostly with triggers and states. But I would love to know how you are randomly assorting the matched pairs. I see you solved the timing issue by leaving the cards visible. I wonder, can a state be animated?

As annoying as the sounds are, they are fun!

Thanks for sharing and your encouragement John!

Mary Kay and Steve,

Thanks for the feedback.  This is the link to the Story file.

Keep in mind that in creating the game, my goal was speed of development not efficiency of the code.  Assuming no compromise on quality of the product and future maintenance, the trade off between the two typically weighs heaviest to development speed.  I am certain you can find some better ways to achieve the same features.  Have fun.
