Consistent sound level when publishing in Storyline 2

Jul 01, 2015

Hi there,

I have recently completed a project that has voiceovers/sound.  They were recorded in same conditions and using the same room & yeti microphone settings etc.   There is however 3 different voices used throughout.  Is there a way to format these sounds so that they are all at the same level? I have tried to manually change in Storyline and edit, but wondered if there was a  way to format?  It's going to be annoying for the learner to adjust!

Thank you!

Good day Shawna,

Your best bet is to bring your audio files into the freeware Audacity. You will then, under the effects menu, normalize your audio. Audacity will analize your file and bring the loudest peak close to 0db (or whatever number you tell it to, default is -1db). It will then apply the difference to the entire soundwave making it sound louder. Do this to your 3 files, they should sound even. Do a "save as" in order to keep your original and compare. You can then play with the max amplitude menu when you normalize to fine tune audio level.

Have a good day!
