Content automatically adjusting to LMS container

Nov 18, 2016

Hi all,

I hope you can help.

I am currently working with an LMS provider to utilise some Learning content I developed on Storyline.

When they load it on their LMS it works ok but the LMS capsule cuts off the top or the bottom of the content (although you can see it using a slider control). I published it as LMS, Scorm 1.2 HTML 5 output and Articulate mobile player.

They are telling me however that it is not automatically adjusting to the capsule because the content is not "mobile responsive".

I am wondering whether I can fix this by adjusting settings or publishing differently and would appreciate your thoughts please.

Hey there, Mark.  Well, I'm glad your course works otherwise; let's see if we can help you out with fitting it into your LMS capsule.

Your LMS is correct in saying that Storyline 2 content is not mobile responsive, so nothing is going "wrong" in that respect.  Are you working with Storyline 2?

The most apparent way, to me, would be to create your modules with those capsule dimensions in mind.  You can set the story size at the beginning of your projects.  You can change it on content you've already created, but the downside is that your slides might get a bit distorted.

I'm not sure if the LMS capsule would respond to the Player size and browser settings, but have a look at those as well.  You'll have the ability to control:

  • The size of the browser window
  • Whether the course stays locked at the same size or lets learners scale it by adjusting the size of their browser windows
  • Whether the course launches in a separate window and, if so, the properties of that window

I hope that information is handy.  Let us know how you're making out!
