Content Library Access

Apr 05, 2017

Will there be a way in the future to access the Content Library without having an Articulate 360 subscription?  I do not need all of the additional elements offered with 360, but I would like access to the Content Library.

Hi Cory,

Currently the Content Library (and other Articulate 360 elements) are going to be a part of the subscription set up and I haven't heard plans to change that. We'd always be curious to hear a bit more about your needs though as our team continues to look at the product road map. Can you share some more specifics about your needs and thoughts in the form of a feature request here?

Hey Kyle!

You can preview select Content Library assets right over here. To add assets directly to your courses, you can search the entire Content Library from right within Storyline 360.

It sounds like you want to be able to search all assets outside of Storyline. I'm interested in hearing more about that. Can you tell me a little bit about why that would be helpful for you?

The link you provided is good for the character portion of the library, but we as an organization had hoped that all assets (images, icons, videos, etc.) could be searchable similar to the characters.

Often times in our organization, employees outside of Development (employees who have 360 licenses) assist in finding stock assets for the Developers to use for a specific project. By doing so, it improves Development's work flow. But that act alone is not worth purchasing 360 licenses for non Developers.

Great points all around, Kyle.

I don't know if we have plans to allow the entire library to be searchable/visible without a subscription, but for those individuals who are outside of Development they could start a trial of Articulate 360 to see all the items in Storyline or Rise. The trial is restricted to what can be downloaded, but they'd be able to see everything that's available.

Hi Jacke,

The stock photos, images, icons, videos, course slides, and characters in Content Library are 100 percent royalty- and attribution-free, so you can use them in your e-learning however you’d like.

If you need more specifics or want to dive into all the legal jargon, take a look at our Terms of Service here.

Hi Ashley, on my team there are 7 Instructional Designers and I was just hired as the sole eLearning developer. The IDs will provide me with storyboards, PowerPoints with images and a script (in the notes). It would be a huge time saver, and a smart way to develop, if they had access to the content library and could identify/cut and paste/etc what images they want on each slide. How can the IDs get access to the library without a license, given they don't develop the eLearning. Thanks, Manuel

Hey there, Manuel.

Thank you for walking us through your scenario, and great question!

While you can preview Content Library 360 assets on this page, you'll need a subscription to search and directly add them to your courses within the authoring apps. This tutorial covers both flows!

With your insight in mind, I do recommend an Articulate 360 Teams subscription. It'll help everyone save even more time with all the great collaboration features—and of course, give direct access to the exclusive asset, Content Library 360!

If there's anything else I can answer, I'll be here!
