Control D & Duplicate

Jun 01, 2018

Ctrl D does not work for me when trying to duplicate slides and other things. Even when I select the Duplicate option from the right-click drop down, it doesn't do anything. Any help appreciated.

Hi there, Anastasia.  Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

It sounds like you're having some issues with keyboard shortcuts.  In Storyline 360, the duplicate button, the drop-down menu, and CTRL+D are working for me.  I'm also able to use CTRL+Z to "undo," as addressed in your other discussion.

The first step I'd like to try is to reinstall Storyline, and making sure that we do so with administrator privileges.  Can you follow these steps here?  Rebooting between steps has been successful for me in the past with weird issues like this one.

Tell me how you make out!

Hi Martin,

I gave this a test myself using Storyline 360 Build 3.17.16188.0, and CTRL+Z was still working for me.

Can you provide any more detail on the steps you go through to see this issue, i.e. does it only happen on text boxes or image? Are you editing something else before this stops working? Are other programs open and running? Has Storyline been open for awhile?

I'm still struggling with the Duplicate Slide in the Ribbon and right-clicking on the slide to duplicate.  It takes about 10-12 clicks (either way) to get it to duplicate.  I've restarted several times but it seems like there is a "duplicate gremlin" that most of the time (not all of the time), prevents the Duplicate side to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Kim,

What's on the slide you're attempting to duplicate? I saw a blank slide duplicate pretty quickly, and a slide with a lot of images took a few more seconds than the blank slide.

That was using the button on the ribbon, but right-clicking on the slide thumbnail and choosing Duplicate happened pretty quickly for both.

You shouldn't have to click 10-12 times, but that may be causing issues with Storyline trying to keep up and could lead to a bunch of duplicates!

I'd also check that you're working on local project files, and give Storyline a rest each night by saving your project and shutting down the application. We all need our beauty sleep - but those are both tips to help prevent file corruption too!
