I am attempting to play around with the web object functionality within Storyline. I currently have a web object pointing to a PDF document and I am wondering if there is any way we can control what is happening in the PDF in Storyline. For example, you click on "button x" within Storyline and the PDF jumps to "heading x" and perhaps some audio plays. Is something like this possible?
If I were to take a screenshot of the pdf document and put the subseqent pages within a scrolling panel, can I use buttons to bring with to a specific location within that panel? Perhaps this can be achieved by setting variables or is there an easier way?
We work a lot with PDF-files. I usually put them in as resources. Or I have a button which opens the file. As an advantage you do not have to cut your file in pieces.
We have a new client that wants to take all of their PDF files and convert them to trackable eLearning, but because the content doesn't lend itself to eLearning, we were thinking of approaching it in a different way. For example, rather than utilizing our resources to recreate the material as an eLearning tutorial, we could just insert the original pdf as a web object and add interaction (hotspots, audio, hyperlinks, etc) within storyline.
I'm beginning to accept that this is not possible.

Hi Ian,
It is the application that opens your PDF that will dictate what you can do with it.
From my experience, it is not much. We have all our regulation in PDF format and for ages we've been looking at the feature you describe.
It seems that we we're always stuck on the limitation of only 1 pdf object active as web object at a time.
perhaps if you ad a geature request it mihjt be considered for one of the next update
Here's a link to the feature request page
Cheers

On that note...

Yeah, we have generally done the same.
