Controlling navigation in a lightbox slide

Oct 20, 2013

Hi folks

Is there any way to control the navigation in a lightbox slide? I have just realised that I can't seem to control whether someone clicks all of the tabs in a lightbox slide. Or can I? I can't see a way of adding any conditions to the red 'x'.

I'd prefer not to just use branching as that won't provide the same differentiation of material that the lightbox slide does.

One post I read suggested that someone create custom lightbox slides which I guess I could do, however I imagine that would entail a lot of work at this point in time.

I hope you can help!

Hi Jacinta,

I'm not sure I'm clear on what is happening - you have a lightbox slide, that has a few tabs within it, that you don't want the user to be able to click on until a certain point? Lightbox slides are actual slides that just get called at a particular point in the course and appear on top of your actual slide - so things like using T/F variables to determine what point their at and if they're able to access each tab would be an option?

Sorry, Ashley. I obviously haven't expressed myself well.

Firstly, some background information ... This course module is based around a diagram of the structure of my workplace. The learner clicks on different parts of the diagram to learn about the different sections of my workplace. The information on each section is presented in a tabbed screen. When they have finished with each section, they return to the diagram to click another section, and continue until all areas have been visited. This means that there is already a lot of branching in the course.

I am using the lightbox slides to keep the learner feeling grounded in whatever section they're visiting, as the lightbox slides are obviously different. These are just 'further information' slides. On some of these lightbox slides I have tabs/buttons.

My task then is to try to ensure that the learner clicks all required buttons on each lightbox slide before taking off to visit something else. On a normal slide I would do this by adding conditions to the Next button. On the lightbox slides, I don't seem to be able to control the functionality of the X button. I would like to be able to stop them from closing the lightbox before they have completed all required interactions.
