Controlling states in Articulate Storyline 2
Oct 18, 2014
Let's say I have two shapes on the screen. Both are set to NORMAL state when the timeline starts.
If a user selects shape A, tt changes to a SELECTED state.
If they select it again, it goes back to the NORMAL state.
Is there a way to set a trigger or condition so that the user can only make the decision one time?
in other words, if I click Shape A, the state is SELECTED. If I try to click it again, the SELECTED state is maintained?
I have about 9 shapes on a screen and want the user to have to stick to their first choice (either selecting the shape or not).. I don't want them to be able to toggle back and forth.
Thanks my fellow Storyliners

Hi Richard
see attached .story...trigger only on shape A
Have a great big invisible rectangle, (white - set to 100% transparency and no border).
Have it set to Initial State = Hidden, and go to state = normal when image #1 is selected.
Make sure it is on top of the other images

Wendy and Bruce!
Thank you both for taking the time to respond to my question.
Bruce, I had used that trick later in my module but didn't think about it when it came to solving it on the slide in question.
It worked!
Again, thank you both for you assistance.
Richard
Glad you got a way around the problem.
