Controlling / template-izing what is returned in a Try Mode recording

Jul 21, 2015

Issue: Once we import a recording into Storyline 2, we have to add two screen elements each time there is a hot spot (because the hot spot isn't visible to the user)... one is a bounding box and one is a text box w/ instructions so the user knows what to do. (See attachment.)

Question: Is there a way to have SL automatically include those screen elements when we import the recording?

Yes, but unfortunately, we can't make them look the way we need them to look for our corporate style... is there a way to adjust them?
Thanks!

Oops, also, is there a way to have them return a context-sensitive message? i.e. “Click the Submit button” as opposed to “Click”

Hi Nancy! You can customize your captions as explained in this tutorial.

Modifying the default caption labels for screen recordings isn't currently supported. Caption labels refer to the action words associated with events in your screen recordings, such as "Click and drag..."

Here are two options for editing caption labels, and please note the second option for the XML file is not supported.

Also please note that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature which you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
