Controlling the player buttons

May 26, 2020

Hi ,

In Storyline 360, I have added 5 layers to a slide and I want the "Next" button to be enabled only after the leaner visited all the layers. I tried using the states in trigger as well as True/False condition to enable the next button which is disabled when the timeline starts.  But when the timeline ends the Next is enabled by itself.

What can be done here? Thank you

Hi Devi!

I'm happy to help!

I recreated this on my end using 5 layers, variables, and triggers. The easiest way to control the Navigation buttons on the Player is by using variables. In this file, I used variables to determine when a user can click on the following button when the variables are all set to True then the Next button changes from Disabled to Normal.

I'm attaching the file to this reply! Take a look, and let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you Lauren!

I tried to replicate the triggers as in your example. But still it is not working. When the timeline ends the Next button is enabled even if none of the layers are Visited.

Once the Next is enabled and if I move to layers and come back Next is disabled with no option to navigate further!

Attaching my slide here..please help

Hi Devi!

Thank you for attaching your file!

I duplicated the slide and added new variables, which did the trick! It looks like the variables were corrupted in some way. To prevent objects and interactions from corruption, we recommend saving to your local drive rather than a network drive.

I've attached the updated file to this discussion. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Devi,

Thank you for letting us know!

I reviewed the file and made some slight changes to the variables. I also added a True/False variable to determine when the Next Button should be changed to Normal. Could I have you test out this file to see if it works on your side?

Please keep us posted and let us know if you have any questions!
