Conversion from SL1 to SL2: Transcript Issue

Oct 28, 2014

When I convert a story file from SL1 to SL2, the transcript color changes by itself and I have to correct it on every slide. (When I make it white, the color is duller than the white from SL1) Apart from this, the text keeps getting cut out due to the scroll bar. As a result I have to use a lot of enter spaces to manipulate a way out of it.

I have attached a sample screenshot just to show what I want to say. If anybody knows how to resolve this with minimum effort, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Hi Nikhil,

Are you referring to the Notes for each slide, that would then appear within the player set up you've enabled? The player elements from SL1 to SL2, are a bit different, and you'll notice that mostly when editing the player colors and the names for each. So you should be able to change the color of your notes from within the slide itself, and at the player level as a whole.

As far as the scroll bar, I'm not sure I understand what's occuring from that image alone. Are you seeing this only on upgraded files or all files you're working on in SL2? Do you have an example you could share here with us?

Dear Ashley,

Thank you for the helpful response! Yes, I am referring to the Notes tab. True, colors are handled in a different way in SL2.

However, when I am converting a story file that was already developed fully in SL1 to SL2, I get an issue with the Notes. If you notice the Notes tab, some text is getting hidden behind the scrollbar. (I have attached a screenshot to make it more evident.)

When I develop a module from scratch in SL2, this does not happen. But only when I have developed something in SL1 and then choose to use SL2 to work on that file further, the issue arises. Could you please help me sort this one? Thanks!

HI Nikhil,

Thanks for that image - it's clearer to see the behavior now. I tested in my own SL1 to SL2 files, and I can't recreate the issue with some standard lorem ipsum text I placed in the notes section. Do you have an SL1 file I could take a look at in terms of your text settings and trying to upgrade it? You can attach a .story file here, and even one slide that you've added notes to and have seen the behavior should work.

Dear Ashley,

Thanks a lot for addressing the issue and going through the test run of conversion with Loren Ipsum text! I am attaching a sample story file with one slide created in SL1 that faces the issue. I tried converting this to SL2 and it has the transcript-getting-cropped problem. Please let me know the solution, it would be very helpful for me. Thank you so much!

Hi Nikhil,

Thanks for sharing that here. I could see it when updating your file into SL2, and it looks like some additional formatting is applied to the notes section. To clean it up, I highlighted the text in the notes section on the slide and then used the "clear formatting" button on the home tab (looks like a little eraser) and then the text displayed normally in the notes tab.

It seems that the Notes tab is having issues displaying the text with a different font than the standard Open sans which is applied as a part of the upgrade - so I'll report this to our QA team for additional review, but in the meantime please use the workaround of clearing the formatting to have everything display as expected.
