I've made and animated some headers using a series of rectangles, each with their own motion paths. When SHIFT+Click all the items one by one, and then copy/paste them to a new slide the motion paths are copied. If I group them together and copy the group, the motion paths are lost. Is there a setting to change this, or do I need to just keep doing the shift+click method?
Neither. Put them all on one slide, and when you need them, duplicate the slide. One click, and everything about them is copied.
You know what they say in the theater: anybody who puts animals or kids on stage deserves what happens to them. I say the same thing about groups in Storyline. This is just one more proof that no matter what you do with them, you are unlikely to be happy. :)
